About Us
The Fighting Koalas (FKT) is an age group and junior triathlon team designed for athletes of all ages and abilities. The FKT was created by Mat Reid in January 2008 in Waterdown, Ontario, Canada. Reid comes from a large background in triathlons and business. Businessman Mike Parsons purchased a minority share of the company in March 2008 and now owns all special events hosted by the team.
The FKT concept is to give each athlete the tools and knowledge to achieve personal bests in the sport, meanwhile creating a social atmosphere for the athletes to build relationships with likeminded individuals around the community.
The Fighting Koalas also strive to give aspiring coaches the chance to build their own team in their community. Full training is given to each coach to ensure consistency in services and protocol. Each coach and franchised FKT team will have its own unique style within the organization.
Together Mat and Mike strive to build what has yet to be accomplished anywhere else in the world. A triathlon team that is known around the planet, and with a triathlon franchise in every major city from Canada to Switzerland to Russia.
