KW Fighting Koalas Triathlon Team is excited to announce a junior aged triathlon program for children aged 13 to 18. This is the only junior aged triathlon program in the Kitchener-Waterloo area! All of the workouts will be fully coached by Amy Mausser.
In four years of competing in Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons Amy has:
- twice qualified and competed at the ITU World Championships in Vancouver
- achieved second place in the Subaru Triathlon Series Ontario Triathlon Series, and second place in the Ontario Sprint Series for Females aged 20-24
- competed in over 25 triathlons
Amy has also:
- completed a Degree in BAHS Athletic Therapy
- gained experience by training a variety of athletic disciplines and athletes within the CIS, OFC Varsity Football, Junior B, CIS, AHL, NHL, hockey, Junior A Lacrosse, Tennis Canada, Secondary School Athletics
- completed the qualifications as a Athletic Therapy Certificate Candidate
- become certified as a First Responder
- competed as a Masters Alpine Skier

How to join?
Joining is super easy to do. You can pay by cash or by cheque.
How much does it cost to join?
There is a set monthly fee of $80 per month to be paid in advance. Email me for confirmation to sign up at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will then schedule a meeting!
There is also a yearly fee and which is $60 per year that covers team and OAT insurance.
When you pay the yearly fee this will give you access to the FKT athlete tracking software, team emails, first choice to FKT events, coaching clinics, training camps and discounts to; Runner's Dens in Waterdown (which has all the FKT triathlon clothing), 10% from Runner's Choice in Waterloo, and 10% from Ziggy's bike shop in Kitchener.
We are also sponsored by Xterra wetsuits and all members will be given access to a direct website to discounted Xterra wetsuits of over 50% off!
When you pay the $80 per month this covers access to all FKT practices which are fully coach by one or more of our coaching team, athlete assessment questionnaire at the time of signing up, a monthly training plan tailored specifically for you! The monthly plan will be based upon the initial athlete questionnaire and will be monitored between you the athlete and us the coaches.
Our approach to coaching.
Our approach to coaching is to help you achieve your goals for triathlons. By doing an initial athlete questionnaire this will give us a better idea of what your goals are, what key races you want to do and what distance you are focusing on, what your strengths and weaknesses are, your athletic background or non-athletic background, your age etc. Then will monitor your training on an ongoing process by keeping track of your workouts via the athlete tracking software, emails, phone calls and actual coaching at the practices.
Practice Schedule - As of August 6th/2010
Tuesday night Run - 6:30pm at Waterloo park - Quality speed work sessions
Wednesday night Cycle - New starting time of 6:00pm at RIM park. Quality bike sessions with a run added on at the end.
Weekly swim sessions - Tuesday's 5pm and Thursday's at 8pm!
All practises will be confirmed each week via email to all members.

Binbrook Duathlon relay - 1st place overall
Guelph Lake Olympic swim/cycle - 4th and 8th place overall
Belwood Lake Duathlon female 30-34 - 1st place
Belwood Lake Triathlon - 2 top ten age group placings
Gravenhurst Duathlon female 25-29 - 1st place
Muskoka Long Course swim/cycle - 3rd overall
Chemong Lake duathlon female 30-34 - 1st place and 2nd female overall!
Binbrook Duathlon relay - 1st place.
